The first International Sculpture Art Colony was held at the beginning of August (from the 1st to the 18th of August, 2018) in Žagubica. It was a mutual undertaking of the Native Museum of Homolje and the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, under the sponsorship of the Municipality of Žagubica and the Ministry of Culture and Information.
Eleven students and six professors from five faculties in total were participating in this colony. Besides the students and professors from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the others were the students and professors from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, the students and professors from the faculty in Novi Sad, those from the Academy of Fine Arts from Trebinje (the University at Eastern Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina – the Republic of Srpska) and those from the National Academy of Arts from Sofia (Bulgaria). The colony was attended by the academic Svetomir Arsić Basara, a world-renowned and famous sculptor, who is also a great friend and an honorary citizen of Žagubica. The local artists and sculptors participated in the colony as well. The Native Museum in Žagubica organized transportation for all the participants from Belgrade to Žagubica and back. The project of the Ministry of Culture and Information financially supported the organization of accommodation and food for the participants as long as the colony lasted. Furthermore, we acquired the needed material (wood), as well as certain processing tools. All the participants were taken on a tour of natural and cultural-historical sites around the Municipality of Žagubica.
