The first donor painting auction was held in Žagubica on Wednesday, the 14th of February.
The visitors, the businessmen from Žagubica and beyond, the directors of public companies and institutions, the company representatives, the local government representatives, and other participants of the auction, at the mere beginning, were welcomed by Saša Ilić, the director of the Native Museum of Homolje.
“Taking into consideration that there is not even one memorial dedicated to all the fallen combatants and patriots during WWI, the leadership of the Municipality of Žagubica came up with the idea to build one such memorial. The memorial meant to be built will be located opposite the Native Museum of Homolje. More precisely, it would be in the triangle between the Museum, the Nis gas station, and the bus station. The funds raised at the auction are intended for making landmarks. We have two conceptual solutions that we will take into consideration: the sketch by the architect Živorad Životić, and the model by the academic sculptor Janko Lalić”, said Ilić.
More than 30 exhibits were offered at the auction, and we collected 315 thousand Serbian dinars in total. The paintings that have not been sold will be exhibited at the Native Museum of Homolje. One can come to see or buy them any time between 7 am and 3 pm, during weekdays.
